Link to Campaign to Save Guildford AS Observing site
21st April 2008
Guildford AS Observing Site at Albury Heath, Surrey is threatened by a plan to create an industrial plant nearby. The threat to astronomy is light-pollution that will make the site unusable for observing - there are more wide-ranging general threats to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. A previous proposal was stopped by the sheer number of objections that Surrey County Council received from individuals – over two thousand. G A S members and those from other societies played a role in this. Another plan has been submitted so if you may be effected by this please look at the website and send a letter of objection.
